General

Are there any rules in your studio?

  • Taking pictures and/or videos on cell phones or personal cameras is prohibited in our studio.
  • Shoes are NOT ALLOWED in our studio. Please ensure you carry along a pair of socks so that you are not bare-feet. Models being photographed are allowed to wear shoes if the theme / set requires them to do so.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON QUANTITY V/S QUALITY?

  • If you are looking for a photographer to take 100′s or 1000′s of pictures then that’s not us. We strive to focus our efforts on quality rather than quantity. We believe that a handful of stunning images is much better than hundred or thousand images that look the same
  • Over the past few years we’ve focused on shooting quality work. This has meant shooting a lot less (which is something us photographers never want to hear) but we’ve really enjoyed seeing the results – we can immediately see a growth in what we do and we’re really taking the time to focus on WHAT our style is. Besides, it gives us time to also focus our energies on the child being photographed to bring the best out of him/her.

WHAT DIFFERENTIATES YOU FROM OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS?

  • Over 15 years international experience. Photographed models of all age groups from over 75 countries. Trained from some of the best photographers and industry artists in the US and UK.
  • Our work & quality speaks for itself: within 3 months of launching in India we were approached by Delhi’s leading hospitals including Fortis LaFemme, Fortis Shalimar Bagh, Apollo Cradle. The walls of all these hospitals are decorated with our newborn and children photographs.
  • We have the most hygienic and spacious kids photo studio in Delhi. Our entire studio is sanitised after every shoot in order to provide a very safe and clean environment for our young models.
  • We provide a professional photo shoot session with a professional team. Our team, as well as working for us, regularly works in the industry on TV, films, music videos, magazines, etc. So they bring plenty of experience and latest trends to the table.
  • Our client feedback is available online. Please spend a few minutes reading our client feedback to understand why we and our clients’ fee that we offer the best services available for newborn and child photography.

WHAT DIFFERENTIATES AN AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER FROM A PROFESSIONAL?

  • One way to differentiate an amateur from a professional is the consistency of their work. An amateur photographer’s portfolio may show nice images, but those images are a compilation of one or two accidentally good images from many sessions.
  • The professional will show quality images consistently in both their portfolio AND recent work on their blog. If you hire an amateur to shoot your session, you accept the risk that there may only be one or two good images from your session vs. the 20-30 great images that we will provide in your gallery.

WHAT IS THE EQUIPMENT YOU USE?

  • Our portraits are captured with the Hasselblad H5D / Nikon D810 / D800E camera and we have a wide array of lenses and equipment for every need.

  • During this discussion we will answer any questions that you may have.
  • The pre-shoot discussion is usually done on the phone and on Whatsapp
  • When you visit our studio for the shoot, feel free to discuss with us our product offerings and we will be happy to show you sample products that are available in the studio.

  • We are a newborn and child portrait and life style photographer and we generally don’t do event photography. The only occasions we would participate in event photography is as a result of a collaboration with a large organization.

WHAT IS YOUR SHOOT PROCESS?

  • We shoot 2 looks (costume changes) per theme during a session. For outdoor shoots we are restricted to a single change per theme. Shooting a range of looks will allow you to have multiple shots available for different purposes.
  • We generally take 10-15 shots per look which, depending on the shoot type, might include head shots, mid-length shots, and full length shots. If you have a specific requirement we will discuss that during the shoot or during your pre-shoot consultation.
  • After the shoot all the images taken during the shoot will be reviewed on a large screen. This review process is an important part of the shoot and we encourage you to review these images any number of times you want. Should you not review the images while you are at the studio, we will assume you are satisfied with the images.
  • If there are any issues with the pictures, we encourage you to express them during this review process so that the issues can be addressed while you are at the studio.
  • If the issues expressed cannot be addressed or if you are not satisfied with the images, we will either postpone, redo, or cancel the shoot after a mutual discussion or agreement.
  • The advance amount paid, might or might not be refunded based on our discretion.

  • Camera RAW images are only given to clients as part of an advertising or commercial photoshoot. Incase you want Camera RAW images you will need to purchase the Image Copyrights while filling out the shoot booking form.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF SELECTION / DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHS?

  • If you are looking for a photographer to take 100′s of pictures in every set then that’s not us. We strive to focus our efforts on quality of edited images rather than quantity of delivered images. We believe that a handful of stunning edited images is much better than hundreds of images.
  • Keeping the above in mind, every package of ours has a pre-defined number of edited images. It is our endeavour to provide you these handful of edited images that will be the quality images that we focus to deliver
  • During a shoot we may click images that look similar or are continuous shots. We will deliver all these images as part of the selection images so that you, as a parent, can select the best expression that you like from such a series.
  • The objective of giving the client the original images from the shoot is only to help them select the best images they like from the set of images. The original images should not be treated as a deliverable as their purpose is to only help identify the final product, i.e. the edited images from the shoot.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN PHOTO RETOUCHING?

  • Our photo retouching process is limited to the following
    • Color Correction
    • Light Correction
    • Basic Skin Retouching
  • We do not take requests for
    • photo manipulations or background replacements
    • making changes to the actual physical appearance of the subjects we photograph
    • adding additional elements to a photograph
  • The package you select will also contains prints. While we recommend that prints are selected from retouched images, we do leave the decision up to the client to select if they want to print images that are not retouched.
    • Selecting print images that are not in your retouch list will not increase your count of images to retouch.
    • As an example, if your package contains 10 retouched images and 2 prints, your total number of retouched images is 10 (and not 10+2)
  • There are certain instances where you might ask us to choose the best images for editing. In such a scenario we wish to inform you that “Best” is very subjective. We encourage clients to select the images themselves. However, in cases where clients request us to select the “best” images, our selection will be final.

  • If you would like your photographs couriered, then you will need to arrange for a courier pick-up service. In this case, the courier company you arrange will pick up the prints from our studio and will package and ship them to the destination you want. Please note, we do not courier prints directly and cannot arrange a courier service for you. Neither do we assume any responsibility of prints getting lost or damaged if the courier pick up is arranged by you.

Newborn Photoshoot

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY NEWBORN SHOOT?

  • The best time to contact us for your newborn portraits is during your pregnancy.
  • We will make a tentative booking based on your due date and then we will wait to hear from you when you arrive home from hospital with your new baby. We can arrange a suitable time and date for your session after you have come home with your baby.
  • Sessions may be rescheduled or cancelled due to illness or injury.
  • If you need to reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible. If you suspect your baby is unwell, please do not proceed with the session and reschedule for another time.

HOW DO I SCHEDULE MY NEWBORN PHOTO SESSION WHEN I DON’T KNOW WHEN MY CHILD WILL BE BORN?

  • Just tell us your estimated due date and then we will block off some time around that.
  • When your baby finally does make his/her entrance, contact us as soon as you can and we will set a specific date from there.
  • Generally, newborn sessions are held within 14 days of birth…that is when you’re going to get the most cooperation for all those adorable newborn poses.
  • The MOST important thing, however, is to book your session as soon as you can WHILE you’re pregnant. Please don’t wait until your baby is born as my schedule fills up very quickly and we don’t want you to be left without newborn images.

HOW LONG WILL THE SHOOT TAKE?

  • Newborn and baby sessions may take between 2 and 3 hours as they don’t always like to fit snuggly into a given time slot.

WHAT IS THE PERFECT AGE FOR NEWBORN / BABY PHOTOGRAPHY?

  • This question is often put forth and discussed not just among photographers but parents, paediatricians, and doctors alike.
  • There are two extremely important factors which are used to determine the ‘right’ time to photograph a newborn. These are: Age and weight
  • While the perfect age for newborn baby photography is 7-14 days sometimes the weight needs to be taken into consideration before scheduling a photo shoot.
  • If a child is below 2 kilograms in weight, it is advisable to wait for the baby to gain a little weight.
  • The baby should weigh at 2.1 to 3 kilograms.
  • For some newborns, this is rather likely to indicate a photo shoot after 10-12 days. Usually, newborn twins are born premature, and often are advised by doctors not to leave their home until they become a few weeks older. Hence, it is a common practise to have the photo shoot of newborns happen after they are 4 weeks old. Often they reach their ideal birth weight when they are a few weeks (4-5 weeks) old. Though, sometimes newborn twins can be photographed at as early an age as 10 days if they are born at their actual due date- meaning that they are full term and are have a birth weight of 3.2 kilograms. The earliest is 3 days.

DOES YOUR TEAM COME TO OUR HOUSE TO PHOTOGRAPH?

  • Yes, we do offer home shoots for newborns. You may find the packages here.

DO YOU HAVE AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE THE NEWBORN WILL BE COMFORTABLE?

  • When photographing newborns, we try and create the “perfect environment“. Most of the photographs are taken with with newborns in very little or no clothing. In order to achieve the perfect environment, it is important to understand the environment the babies come from. The temperature inside the mother’s womb is 38 Celsius. Because newborns cannot regulate their body temperature as well as an adult can it needs to be protected from both cold and heat.
  • The best environment to photograph a newborn is when the temperature is regulated around 26-28 degrees Celsius.
  • Our entire studio is sanitised after every shoot in order to create a safe and comfortable environment for our young models.

WHAT ARE THE NEWBORN PHOTO SHOOT TYPES?

  • There are essentially two types of newborn portraits sessions : posted or studio session and life style session.
    • A posed session is usually done within the first 14 days of birth. This is when the baby is very sleepy and he/she can easily mold into the baby poses. Several props like wraps, hats, bands, feathers, blankets, beanbags, etc. are used for such a session. A newborn photo shoot session usually lasts 4 hours and it includes comfort breaks, as required.
    • A lifestyle newborn photography session, on the other hand, is a more casual approach to newborn photography. There is no defined posing as the intention is to capture more natural images of the baby. Such sessions can be done for babies up-to 1 month old.

DO YOU OFFER A “BABY’S FIRST YEAR” PACKAGE?

  • Yes, they can be found here

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ONCE FROM A NEW BORN PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

New-born photography sessions are a fairly new concept in the photography industry. As such, upon hearing it for the first time, many of you might wonder exactly what to expect from it. Having had a large number of years of work experience in different types of photography, with particular dedication towards the field of new-born photography, Amit Chhabra explains what exactly you can expect from your session of new-born portrait photography in his studio in South Delhi.

Preparation before the session

Babies are bound to look cute in anything they wear and whatever that they do, so there is no need for any special preparation. At our studio, we have a wide array of props & setups for newborns.

During the session

At the studio, we have some amazing facilities to keep your baby entertained and comfortable during the shoot. Our endeavour is that you will be comfortable and guided entirely throughout the session. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions, because we are happy to answer and make sure you are comfortable throughout.

After the session

We provide the preview images within 1 week of the shoot date. A link will be shared with you to download the images once they are ready. Once your selection has been made your images will be retouched and will be available in high-resolution. Please refer to your package for the number of images you will receive as part of the shoot.

WHY EARLY PICTURES OF NEWBORNS IS THE PERFECT AGE FOR NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY?

  • Within the early first few days of their life, newborn babies still are ‘womb’ like and enjoy staying curled up and love to keep warm. It is possible to achieve good foetal style positions and experience their newness.
  • Newborn babies often have peely skin, as well as their umbilical cord, is yet to fall off or be removed and are also in a semi-dreamlike state which is so often quite exquisite. Upon getting older, they become even more alert and begin to stretch out, are not quite that bendy or even sleepy which makes cute baby poses a challenging task. However, the difficulty of this task cannot be quantified as each newborn is different.

Infant Photoshoot

WHY DO YOU BELIEVE IT IS IMPORTANT TO PHOTOGRAPH MY INFANT’S MILESTONES?

  • Your baby will change so much during that first year. In what seems like the blink of an eye, a tiny helpless bundle is transformed into an active and inquisitive toddler. Infant photography sessions are a wonderful way to capture your child’s first milestones and blossoming personality. From quirky smiles and giggles to the excitement of sitting, crawling, and… walking!!Cherish the moment…because life has no rewind button.

WHAT IS YOUR STYLE OF INFANT PHOTOGRAPHY?

  • Today, with an abundance of photographers specialising children’s images, our team is even more intent on identifying the spark of individuality in each person that will separate the finished portrait from the typical and trendy. our team strives to make our infant photography sessions relaxed and enjoyable, while capturing a variety of posed and candid portraits. Infants are encouraged to move around, play, and have fun!
  • The result is portraiture that makes a clear statement about the personality and essence of the infant. Our infant photography portraits avoid gimmicks and special effects in favour of something far more satisfying:  dynamic expression and composition sprinkled with delicate simplicity. With an eye for perfect moments and unique perspectives, our team will create infant portraits that are beautiful, intimate, and emotional.

WHAT’S THE BEST AGE TO PHOTOGRAPH MY BABY?

  • Anytime during the baby’s first year is a great time to photograph your child. A baby undergoes significant changes during the first year and capturing those changes will help you create memories that last a lifetime. A lot of our clients visit us every 2 months to capture their baby’s first year in pictures. Below are some general guidelines that will help you plan the best time to photograph your baby.
    • Newborn photo sessions are best within the first 2 weeks of birth. During this time, your newborn will likely sleep most during the day, which will allow us to move her around without waking easily.
    • The next good time for baby photos is around 3-4 months when babies have good head control – babies get giggly at this age which is great for photos – and who can resist tummy time shots?!
    • Then again when babies are between 6-8 months – there’s a window of opportunity at this age that is ideal for photos – right when baby is able to sit-up unassisted (it’s ok to be a little wobbly) but not yet crawling. Oh, we get adorable shots at this age!
    • Then of course, around 12 months when babies are on their feet! Additional milestones are at 18 months, 2 years old, and then yearly around the holidays for some awesome family photos.

WHAT IS LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHY?

  • Lifestyle photography is a more candid, natural approach to photographing your family.
  • The beauty of lifestyle is that it’s completely unique to you and your family. Maybe it’s you playing with your children, or a couple nuzzling their brand new baby with faces full of emotion…. it’s all the little details of who you are all rolled up into a relaxed, perfectly-not-so-perfect image.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK AN INFANT PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

  • We recommend planning your baby portraits around the following milestones:
    • 3-4 months: Your baby is beginning to express herself more and more and might laugh out loud, smile when she sees and hears things she likes
    • 6-7 Months: Sitting, smiling, and starting to show their personality.
    • 8-9 Months: On the move! Crawling, rolling, and giggles galore.
    • 11-12 Months: Standing, cruising, or even taking first steps.
    • At 12 months we also offer a cake smash session to celebrate your child’s birthday

WHAT IS A CAKE SMASH SESSION?

  • Cake smash sessions are a blast for you & your one year old – and for us!
  • Our clients use them to celebrate a very important milestone, the first birthday!  Your little one is seated with a tiny cake and allowed to “have at it”, while I snap away.  They make for such fun and precious photographs.
  • You can find our packages here.

HOW LONG WILL THE SHOOT TAKE?

  • Each session will vary in length but can take anywhere between 1 to 4 hours dependent on various factors including the package you choose, your child’s age, his/her mood, his/her sleep pattern.
  • We try and pace our session so that the child does not feel rushed during the process.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE THINGS I SHOULD GET ALONG?

  • Besides the clothing and accessories, we recommend that you get your child’s favorite toy, special stuffed animal, or any other object that may attract the child’s attention.
  • We also recommend that you get your baby’s food along. If s/he is feeding, we do have a private feeding area in our studio.

IS YOUR STUDIO SAFE AND HYGIENIC FOR MY INFANT?

  • Our entire studio is sanitised after every shoot in order to create a safe and comfortable environment for our young models.

DO YOU OFFER A “BABY’S FIRST YEAR” PACKAGE?

  • Yes, they can be found here

Maternity Photoshoot

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR PREGNANCY PHOTOS?

  • The best time for pregnancy photos really depends on how soon your belly starts showing. Some mommies “pop” as early as 5 months (especially if they’re having baby #2, #3 etc.) For most first time mommies though, that beautiful belly is most fabulous at about 7 months. It’s a great time because you’re not too tired yet but your belly is still big enough to be the center of attraction for photos!

WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY SESSION?

  • It’s never too early to schedule your maternity session. Sometimes we can accommodate last minute requests, but we usually recommend a 2-4 week notice. If you would like a weekend appointment, it is important to book early as Saturdays and Sundays are booked fast.

DO YOU PROVIDE FABRIC WRAPS?

  • Yes. We provide an exquisite selection of beautiful wraps for draping.

CAN MY SPOUSE AND CHILD BE A PART OF THE SESSION?

  • Absolutely! The father of the child and the sibling of the child are encouraged to join.

THIS IS MY FIRST PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE. WILL YOU GUIDE AND HELP ME POSE?

  • You are in good hands and we want to make sure that you will have the best selection of artistic images. Even if it’s your first professional photography experience, our goal is to make sure you feel comfortable, relaxed, beautiful, and confident.
  • During your photo shoot, our styling team will guide you through elegant poses and will focus on angles that bring out your most beautiful self.

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE SIMILAR IMAGES/POSES THAT I SAW IN YOUR PORTFOLIO. CAN WE DO THAT?

  • Yes. You can pick your favorites lighting/backdrop set ups and poses from our portfolio.

Clothing Guidance

CAN YOU PROVIDE ANY GUIDANCE ON THE CLOTHING I WOULD NEED FOR THE SHOOT?

We will have a discussion about clothing during our pre-shoot consultation. Listed below, are general guidelines to help you getting started with thinking about the process.

  • We ask that everyone bring at between 4 and 8 different options for clothing. Number of custumes will depend on the package you take.
  • We do not provide clothes for children due to hygiene concerns
  • If a stylist has been arranged, then the stylist will conceptualise the look of the session and would guide you on appropriate clothing to bring along, after looking at the options available in the child’s wardrobe. If she needs a particular colour top or bottom for a theme, she would advise on where to find it.
  • People always ask me what colours are best and I really don’t have an answer for that. It’s better for me to get a visual of something, so I suggest bringing a wide variety of colours; especially for kids photography.
  • Don’t be seasonal; everything from t-shirts, tank tops to sweaters and light jackets can work. I love textures and layers, but would generally stay away from crazy patterns and large logos (unless the shot demands that look).
  • If it’s not in the studio we can’t shoot it, so if you find yourself questioning whether or not something will work just bring it along.
  • Here are some basic rules to clothing.
    • Rule #1: You have to love it! I don’t want to shoot anything that you don’t feel comfortable wearing.
    • Rule #2: If you don’t feel comfortable in it, you won’t shoot well while wearing it.
    • Rule #3: Remember, be yourself because this is where you can get some of your own personal style into the shot.
